Sea fever - 52 weeks of colour, yellow

When I look at R0bin Helsinki's photos, it sends me back to my own and to mumbling over Photoshop... but OK, yellow. Simple. Reflecting some of the bursts of yellow in...

R0bin's new, unusual and simply gorgeous exhibition at the Vent du Sud Art café. The theme is John Masefield's beautiful poem Sea Fever (read it here), but the photos aren't just of the sea.

Urban scenes of seaside towns, tall ships, birds... it is sheer poetry. Haunting, thought-provoking, and totally DIFFERENT.

Waves lap over the gallery floor, and thanks to some scripting genius (thank you Jeddin Laval - more about him later) the poem drifts past your feet as you step out of the gallery and over to the seashore.

Really worth a look but even more so as R0bin has put each photo out at just 1L (I am stunned at her generosity). Some are translucent, but can easily be modified to become striking art works for your home ( just click on the texture and reduce transparency to 0 - or she will help you do it).

But please, please look. Right here.

I could look at this exhibition for hours, and dream. Much as Christmas red and gold is fun... this makes such a wonderful change.

Fashion? Whole Body Wrap by Ti Zvezda, white linen skirt by The Closet, chain belt by UME. Just the thing to look whimsical in. Oh, and that amazing fallback, the Helena sash by Persona to cover up the bits of tummy. And inventory staple (and the white one in the pack is tintable).

PS: more yellow stuff to come, decor-wise, but first I need to drag myself away from the sea... and I'm leaving you with this extract:
"I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying".

Feeling beachy, thanks

Vent du Sud brings you:

Opening 12.30 SLT - 21.30 Europe
at the Vent du Sud ART CAFÉ

Who? R0bin Helsinki, a fantastic photographer and inveterate traveller
What? Views from beaches all over the world: unusual, striking, unique (and affordable!)
Why come today? Because these photos are beautiful. Because R0bin is fun to talk to. And because today, there are gifts (including photos and surprise gifts at the opening) and dancing on the square!
How long? Until R0bin puts up a new series of photos, so don't wait too long - she has so many fantastic themes and ideas.

And while you're here, have a wander on our quiet beaches, admire the sunsets from a lighthouse... and feel free to come over in swimwear and dive off our dock (or watch the dolphin, the seagulls or the waves or take a pedalo ride around the island).

(Swimwear on me: "Swallow" by BareRose which is my all-time favourite and comes in 4 colours for 135L)
(PS: Find it at BareRose using their website here)

We would really, really love to see you at Vent du Sud later today (and the exhibition is already open so if you can't make it later, come on over right away)!

Spring again, Robin and another special dollarbie!

R0bin Helsinki (note the zero, not the o) is a hugely active and talented photographer with exhibitions all over SL.

She just loves to share her photos, and travels all over the world  to take them (she just got back from Surinam!). Check her profile for some of her ongoing shows on SL, and she's always happy to talk about the places she's been.

And, fortunately for us, she's a friend of the gang at Vent du Sud, so when I said 'you live in Holland, no? So how about some spring flower-y tulip-y photos?' she hopped right over to offer us a mini-expo in our quiet little courtyard next to Rett's store, easily visible from the tp point.

As always, these are just stunning, and Robin being Robin, at tiny prices for original, incredibly sharp original photos. Or just come and look - you're always welcome here whether you buy or not!

So (preferably after you've snapped up the flower bench and other spring goodies outside Vent du Sud  - see two posts ago - which I am going to put back to their normal price today, by midday SL), do come and see these: they're guaranteed to cheer you up!

I'm also still in a dollarbie mood, so come by and pick up some tulips in a pot: 2 prims, 1L, transferable.  Right by the photos!

(and don't forget to check out Vent du Sud's three great fashion creators for some great spring treats while you're at it? More on their spring newness very soon)
